Glider Performance Tool
Comparing the PAM-equipped gliders of the NOAA Fisheries Glider Rodeo 2026 across mission modes: how each platform was piloted, how well it navigated, how long its battery and storage last, and how much noise it makes.
Seven gliders from four platform types flew the same trackline off the coast of Hawaii in January–February 2026:
| Glider | Platform | PAM system |
|---|---|---|
| risso, stenella, capex987 | Teledyne Webb Slocum G3S | DMON2, WISPR 3.0, JASCO OceanObserver |
| sg607, sg274 | Seaglider M1 / SGX | WISPR 3.0 |
| SEA117 | ALSEAMAR SeaExplorer | Auris |
| belladonna | Hefring Oceanscout | WISPR 6.1 |
Approach
- Split each deployment by rodeo mission mode (fast, slow, intermediate, drift, mini-rodeo).
- Compute the same performance metrics for every glider.
- Compare platforms and modes.
See Project Info for goals and datasets, and Glider Performance for what every glider actually did during the rodeo.
